When I was about a year into learning the drums, my neighbor and high school mentor, Frank Luis, aka Frooky, aka Princess Frank, introduced me to Primus and Rush. To say my mind was blown would be an understatement. I learned as many of both bands' songs as I could and soaked up as much of them as my mind and hands and feet could.
But as I ventured through all the different playing styles drumming offers, I realized that even though I love both bands, that technical style of drumming wasn't my forte. I liked songs that had more feel to them. Which is why I have only covered Primus once, and now finally, for the first time in my channel's 4-year history, Rush.
And you might be asking yourself if this is the first time I'm covering Rush, why this song?
It's because Roll The Bones the album was the first album I listened to way back in the day, c. 1994 or so. And everyone and their mother has covered all the Rush greats, so I thought I would change it up. In fact, I don't think I would ever do a Rush cover if it weren't for this album. This one has more of that feel that I mentioned earlier.
In any case, I hope you enjoy my performance of "Roll The Bones" by Rush:
Also, check out my old New York City cover band, The Butt Connectors cover "Limelight" where I sing lead vocals!!!
