On February 2, 2018, I launched a new series called, "Friday Rewind," where I performed a cover of a song I either recorded and/or played live at some point in my drumming career. Every week for 25 weeks straight, I released a blast from the past. From totally obscure musical acts, to some a few of you might've actually heard.
The playlist predates this current website, so I thought I would repost these here so there's an easy way for viewers to check it out. I tried to release the videos in chronological order but some bands overlapped others, and when I started I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to execute the whole thing, so some of the videos have no particular order to them.
Welcome back to my review of "Friday Rewind," a series where I released a video each week chronicling my playing days as a working drummer. This week features the song, "Smile Pretty" by The Charles Shaw Project.
When I moved back from Houston, TX., I was in a bad place. No money, no job, no car, no place to live. I moved back into my mom's, put my head down, and went to work. On myself.
As soon as I had covered the basics, I reached out to old friends so that I could start playing music again, and one of the first to welcome me with open arms was my very good friend, Aimee, and her boyfriend at the time, TJ. They were playing acoustic songs at coffee shops and wanted to take the next step. So, I joined and later on we added bassist, Kate Keough. Some of our bigger shows, we would also have a violinist play.
We were able to do an east coast tour of Massachusetts and New York City in 2006-2007. We also recorded a full-length album of which I not only played drums but was co-producer and engineer with my great friend, Dan McCarty. But because of legal issues, the album, "Exits and Entrances" is not out or available for purchase.
