On February 2, 2018, I launched a new series called, "Friday Rewind," where I performed a cover of a song I either recorded and/or played live at some point in my drumming career. Every week for 25 weeks straight, I released a blast from the past. From totally obscure musical acts, to some a few of you might've actually heard.
The playlist predates this current website, so I thought I would repost these here so there's an easy way for viewers to check it out. I tried to release the videos in chronological order but some bands overlapped others, and when I started I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to execute the whole thing, so some of the videos have no particular order to them.
Welcome back to my review of "Friday Rewind," a series where I released a video each week chronicling my playing days as a working drummer. This week features the song, "91011" by Kabuki Mono.
As with last week's Friday Rewind, when I moved back from Houston, TX., I was in a bad place. No money, no job, no car, no place to live. I moved back into my mom's, put my head down, and went to work. On myself.
As soon as I had covered the basics, I reached out to old friends so that I could start playing music again, and another of my friend's to welcome me with open arms was, Daron, who I played bass in Beggar's Ride, one of the band's I was in before I moved to Texas. When I came back, he was playing in this band, Kabuki Mono, a rap-rock act with dual rappers, guitars, keys, bass, and drums. They were in need of a drummer, so of course, I started playing with them.
We only played a few shows and we never got to properly record any of our songs, but that was one of the more fun bands I got to play with.
