This is not my first rodeo with this song, but it is the best so far. "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You" is so simple, yet so hard. Groove in general is so simple yet so hard to do right. I think that's why the master himself stuck to just pure groove when he laid down this track for Sting. There is literally no flare, and almost zero fills, yet, this song is so difficult and grooves so hard that it would almost be cheapened if he did play fills. Of course, I played some fills in this cover LOL!
I do hope you like it. I am going to try and do a couple more from this awesome album very soon, so who knows...maybe I'll try the coveted "Seven Days" if I can get a passable take recorded. We shall see!
