Welcome to the Third-Annual PUNK WEEK event where YouTube drummers across the world participate in creating Punk Rock Drum Covers and posting them for a moshing, head-banging, anti-establishment week in January!
This is Day 4 and features the classic old-school punk song, "Blitzkrieg Bop" by The Ramones.
The past two years, I have been covering (sort of) newer punk. This year, I decided to pay homage to the pioneers of punk. This song is one of the ones I wanted to do for a few reasons.
1. The Ramones were a huge reason why punk was even a thing at all. and 2. When I lived in NYC, the cover band I was in played this one, and it was always a fun time and a crowd-pleaser.
I can't imagine YouTube is any different. So let me please my YT crowd as I bring you The Ramones..."Aye Oh, LET'S GO!!!"
FYI: I threw a single-ply 14" tom batter drumhead on top of my 16" floor tom to get more of a deep, thwack like what you hear in the original track. I think it came out pretty cool sounding! So, enjoy, and make sure to tune in tomorrow for Day 2.
