I am closing out 2022 with an 80's greaty, "Second Chance" by 38 Special! This awesome ballad has a cool beat that sounds half-time but is actually in regular time where original drummer, Jack Grondin, plays the rim knock on 2 and the snare on 4. I love these types of songs because they require a lot of creativity, dynamics, stick control, and attention to detail, not to mention patience too.
I also love the vocal line, so of course, I added my karaoke performance to the cover as well. I had no idea that the singer is the younger brother of Lynard Skynard's Ronnie Van Zant & older brother of Johnnie Van Zant. That's pretty cool. Anyway, the vocal harmonies at the end of the song are some of the best I've ever heard in a rock composition. I did my best to recreate them, but it's nowhere near as good as the original. Kudos to the producers and vocalists on this song!
