If I had to pick a favorite band from the mid-2000s, Moneen would probably be it. I was lucky enough to see them live on three separate occasions. The first time was at Warped Tour 2007 at Dodger Stadium with my cousin, and I had never heard of them before. After a long day of band-watching (Paramore, Underoath, Saosin, Helmet, Chiodos, Say Anything) we ended the day at Moneen, and let me say that I was exhausted. I didn't even want to stay for these Canadians I had never heard of...but, to say it was worth it is an understatement.
They were, by far, the best band at the whole show.
My cousin and I saw them again about a year later at the Troubador in West Hollywood where we actually got to meet the original drummer, Peter Krpan, who was an awesome dude. He gave us a pair of his drumsticks too!
Then, my soon-to-be-wife came along with my cousin and me as we saw them a third time at the House of Blues in Anaheim. They weren't as energetic as the previous two times, but they were still very good. I believe they were on tour for this album, "The World I Want to Leave Behind," which was the first for replacement drummer, Steve Nunnaro, who in my opinion, was not nearly as unique and original as Krpan was.
In any case, I just love these guys. I love singing and playing drums to them and I hope you enjoy my performances!
