"Tommy The Cat" Primus Drum Cover

When I got my first drumset, I was living in an apartment in Eagle Rock, CA (a suburb of Los Angeles), and it just so happened that my upstairs neighbor (or maybe he was downstairs, it's been so long I don't recall) was one of the best drummers at the new high school I was set to attend in the coming fall.

His name is Frank Luis. He introduced himself as "Frooky" and for the next few years, he would sort of be my mentor. One of the things he showed me was a band called, "Primus." He lent me his cassette of "Suck on This" and let me tell you, I was hooked. I played that tape over and over.

Then, these new things called Compact Discs started hitting the market. I went to The Warehouse and my first four CDs were 1. Never Die Young (James Taylor), 2. Boing Alive (Oingo Boingo), 3. Ritual de lo Habitual (Jane's Addiction), and 4. Sailing the Seas of Cheese (Primus). That was like close to $80, which was a lot for a 9th grader from a lower-middle-class family.

Anyway, I was obsessed with Tim Alexander's style of drumming. I still think he was one of the best to come out of that era. Here is my cover of my favorite Primus song. I hope you enjoy!
