FRIDAY REWIND Wk.18: "Tiffany" by BEETERS

On February 2, 2018, I launched a new series called, "Friday Rewind," where I performed a cover of a song I either recorded and/or played live at some point in my drumming career. Every week for 25 weeks straight, I released a blast from the past. From totally obscure musical acts, to some a few of you might've actually heard.

The playlist predates this current website, so I thought I would repost these here so there's an easy way for viewers to check it out. I tried to release the videos in chronological order but some bands overlapped others, and when I started I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to execute the whole thing, so some of the videos have no particular order to them.

Welcome back to my review of "Friday Rewind," a series where I released a video each week chronicling my playing days as a working drummer. This week features the song, "Tiffany" by BEETERS.

After I had moved back to Los Angeles from Houston in 2006, I was playing with The Charles Shaw Project (featured on Week 15), Kabuki Mono (Week 16), and The Mormons (Week 17). The Charles Shaw Project broke up because the singer and guitarist were dating each other and their toxic relationship ended, and right along with it went the band. One of the MC's in Kabuki Mono left and that band sort of fizzled out. And when Jimmy left the Mormons, it was no longer as fun as it was a lot of work playing in that band. So, with Joey Welcher also not managing the Mormons anymore so that he could focus more on his band, BEETERS, he asked me to play drums while he went from behind the drumset to singing and playing guitar. I, a big fan of BEETERS, happily obliged. We played a bunch of LA shows and recorded an album, "The Shaming" (on Apple Music and Spotify), and had a solid run for a while. Then we went on a hiatus, I moved to New York City, and things kind of slowed down. But then in 2018, Joey and co-frontman, Mark Bellgraph started writing songs with reckless abandon. They sent them to me where I worked on them in my Fishtown, Phila studio. I flew out there and recorded them and we released "Out of Phase" (on Apple Music and Spotify).

Here is "Tiffany," one of my favorite songs from "Out of Phase." I hope you enjoy it!
