Of all the songs to come out of the 80s, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark's, "If You Leave," may just be the most iconic of them all. They weren't the biggest band by any stretch, and the song was featured in the soundtrack for Pretty In Pink, not the biggest 80s movie either. Yet, something about this song transcended both the band and the movie and went on to symbolize so much more.
This song was (and still is) so huge that many people lump OMD in with the other 80s one-hit wonders, but they're anything but. I am a fan of their entire catalog. In fact, I prefer them over other New Wave greats like The Cure, Depeche Mode, and Duran Duran. I hope you enjoy my drumming and karaoke!
