Today marks the end of PUNKWEEK, and what better way to close it out than by covering this punk rock classic by Green Day, "Basket Case!"
This song encapsulates the meeting of edgy and driving punk rock guitar riffs with what would turn into the mighty and highly commercial pop-punk genre. This song, paired with "Dammit" by Blink-182 launched a movement many punk bands before them would never thought possible.
I know many true punkers probably discount this song as a punk rock song. I remember when this album came out, I liked it, but I didn't think it was punk. I thought it was good, commercial, alternative rock n roll. But now that I'm older and I can't play as fast as easily as I used to...this definitely is a punk rock song to me ATM. LOL.
