Welcome to the Third-Annual PUNK WEEK event where YouTube drummers across the world participate in creating Punk Rock Drum Covers and posting them for a moshing, head-banging, anti-establishment week in January!
Today is DAY 1 and I am super excited to watch everyone's punk covers.
My cover is a collaboration with none other than Rich "Raw Dawg" West Drums! He'll be singing and I'll be drumming along to "21st Century Digital Boy" by Bad Religion.
This year, I thought I'd pay more homage to the founders and pioneers of punk rock. Not all the bands I'll be covering this week will be old-school punk bands, but there will be a handful, and Bad Religion is one of them.
Although they aren't necessarily founders or pioneers, they are a cornerstone of punk rock. And guitarist, Bret Gurewitz, founded the largest independent punk rock record label, Epitaph Records, which has founded and established some of the biggest punk bands ever.
In any case, I wanted to do a collab where "Raw Dawg" could sing, and this is what he suggested. Life being life, I had to postpone our collab, but it now seems serendipitous and was meant for this year's Punk Week. So, enjoy, and make sure to tune in tomorrow for Day 2.
