SAVAGE GARDEN WEEK: Day 5 - "The Animal Song"

Welcome to Savage Garden Week! I'm covering songs from my favorite pop band, and Aussie greats, Savage Garden. For the whole week, I'll be posting a new Savage Garden cover each day.

Day 5 features one of the more fun and upbeat songs on Savage Garden's second album, Affirmation. It's called "The Animal Song" and I think it's about wanting to be free like an animal. Although the thought is interesting, especially after a hard day's work and commuting to and from all the hustle and bustle of life. But in the end, there is nothing like being a human being. Yes, being an animal in the wild is literally life and death, but in my opinion, there is nothing more challenging and rewarding than being a human and going through human challenges, struggles, tribulations, and triumphs.

It's easy to want to give up and just let go of responsibility. But there really is no valor or reward in doing so. Real accomplishment is facing your fears, your responsibilities, your duties, and the hard part of life, and going through it. Whether you come out on top or not isn't so much the point. It's that you try and continue to try to do the right thing. It's the only way we can move forward as a race.

OK, stepping off my soapbox now. I hope you enjoy the music!
