SAVAGE GARDEN WEEK: Day 8 - "Santa Monica"

Welcome to Savage Garden Week! I'm covering songs from my favorite pop band, and Aussie greats, Savage Garden. For the whole week, I'll be posting a new Savage Garden cover each day.

'Tis the last day, this Day 8 of Savage Garden Week! Thank you for watching and I hope you liked my versions of their amazing songs. Today, I am closing it out with the last song from their self-titled debut album, "Santa Monica."

This one wasn't so much a hit, more like a popular B-side, but it did get a tiny bit of airplay here in the US. It's about the Australian singer finding himself now living in Santa Monica, CA. And as a native of Los Angeles, when this song first came out, I had some LA pride, seeing as though many transplants were choosing NYC at the time. Even musicians.

But now, having been away from LA for over 10 years, and loving the east coast, I see where LA is headed and I am glad I left. Not that the Philly area is any better, but there is a difference.

Whatever the case is, this song reminds me of when I used to go down to Santa Monica and hang out. There was a time when it was a great place to go for dinner, music, shopping, hanging out on the pier, and spending the day on the beach.

I hope you enjoy it because it is a quick turnaround...
